Session News #1: First wave of retirement bills makes an appearance next week

The 2015 Regular Session of the Legislature began on Monday.  Next week, several retirement-related bills are expected to be considered.
 
In the Senate next week:
 
The Senate Retirement Committee is scheduled to meet at 2 p.m., Monday, April 20 and the following bills affecting TRSL are up for consideration:
  • Senate Bill 14 (Sen. Guillory) proposes to add an assessment for administrative expenses (excluding investment-related expenses) in the determination of the annual required employer contributions for each of the four state retirement systems.
  • Senate Bill 20 (Sen. Long) adds to the categories of “retired teacher” in the state’s return-to-work law and restructures the law.
In the House next week:
 
The House Retirement Committee is scheduled to meet at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 22 to consider House Bill 10 (Rep. Pearson), which would allow TRSL members to purchase service credit for out-of-state, private school teaching service.
